Role Description/Criteria

WHY ST KEVIN'S

Faith and flourishing

We see the wellbeing of every learner as sacred work. Our approach draws on the Gospel, Catholic Social Teaching and the MACS Vision for Engagement, creating safe, calm and inclusive environments where children feel known, valued and supported.

Supporting minds, shaping practice

Our MHiPS model focuses on building the capability of staff so they can recognise emerging needs, respond with confidence and foster classrooms where mental health and learning can thrive.

Evidence based, relationship driven

The role sits at the intersection of psychology, education and pastoral care. You’ll bring evidence based strategies into everyday school life, while valuing connection, belonging and the dignity of each child.

Collaboration and shared purpose

You will work alongside our Learning Diversity & Inclusion Leader, Student Wellbeing Leader, Chaplain, Deputy Principals, and the broader Vision & Impact Team to strengthen referral pathways, embed preventive approaches, and ensure support is coordinated and transparent.

YOU

You are a calm, capable and relational leader who values prevention as much as response.
You:

  • Build staff capability with patience, clarity and strong pedagogical insight
  • Understand mental health as a developmental journey shaped by relationships, environment and experience
  • Know how to guide and support staff to identify early signs of need
  • Communicate sensitively with teachers, families and external professionals
  • Bring professional judgement, organisation and a steady presence to complex situations
  • Value collaboration, reflective dialogue and working within a shared leadership structure

This role is not a clinical position, but one focused on capability building, clear pathways and whole school implementation of wellbeing approaches.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current VIT registration
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in student mental health, wellbeing, learning diversity or pastoral support
  • Commitment to child safety and the Victorian Child Safe Standards
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A genuine desire to work within a Catholic school and contribute to our mission

COME AND MEET US

You’re warmly invited to a school tour on any Wednesday at 9:30 am, or by appointment.
Call 9709 8600 to book. Come see our classrooms in action, meet the team and experience the spirit of St Kevin’s.
