THE OPPORTUNITIES
Sacred Heart College is seeking forward-thinking and dedicated educators to take on leadership roles in Learning Design. These Positions of Leadership (POL) are central to supporting teacher growth, designing future-focused curriculum, and shaping dynamic learning experiences for students across Years 7–12.
Our approach to Learning Design is built on three key pillars:
- Strategic curriculum leadership across junior and senior years
- Sustained support for students through engaging, personalised learning pathways
- Collaborative development of high-impact pedagogy and professional practice
We invite applications for the following Positions of Leadership:
1. McAuley Years (7–9) Learning Leader – POL 4
- Leads curriculum design and instructional practice for the junior years.
- Champions the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP).
- Develops deep learning experiences aligned with UDL principles and global citizenship.
- POL Allowance: $13,018
- Time Release: 18 periods per week
2. Maguire Years (10–12) Learning Leader – POL 4
- Leads senior learning including VCE, VET, and vocational pathways.
- Supports deep learning and post-school readiness.
- Oversees curriculum development, staff capability, and external partnerships.
- POL Allowance: $13,018
- Time Release: 18 periods per week
3. My Learning Journey (MLJ) Designer – POL 3
- Shapes personalised learning pathways that reflect student choice, agency, and global awareness.
- Supports staff and students to make informed learning decisions.
- Collaborates across leadership to align pedagogy with future-focused strategy.
- POL Allowance: $9,629
- Time Release: 12 periods per week
4. Learning Designers (5 positions) – POL 2
- Collaborate with discipline teams to design purposeful and inclusive learning programs.
- Support curriculum alignment with UDL and contemporary pedagogies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in teaching practices across Years 7–12.
- POL Allowance: $6,326
- Time Release: 8 periods per week

ABOUT YOU
In addition to the responsibilities outlined in the position descriptions attached, successful candidates will be able to demonstrate sound responses to the following selection criteria:
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Education with evidence of continuous formal learning in a relevant field.
- Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School, working towards attainment or preparedness to commence working towards attainment.
- Highly developed understanding of sustainable positive education practices.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead others.
- Forward thinking and innovative.
- Understanding of and commitment to positive education practices.
Desirable:
- Experience managing projects and resources.
- Understanding of Mercy traditions, and capacity to positively advance the mission and Mercy values.
