Role Description/Criteria

The Deputy Principal - Learning and Teaching Coach is responsible for creating a positive learning environment that promotes growth for every student. They will lead and support all staff in the implementation of evidence-based practice for continuous improvement and learning growth. This will be achieved by supporting the Principal and Deputy Principal and PBL Coach in providing both strategic and day to day leadership of the School.

The Deputy Principal - Learning and Teaching Coach will be responsible for developing respectful, collaborative relationships to contribute to a positive school climate and culture. In conjunction with the Principal, they will be responsible for enacting the school’s vision and mission while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality. The Deputy Principal - Learning and Teaching Coach attracts a 2 year contract with an ongoing teaching position. 

Applicants should demonstrate experience in the following:

  • Be committed to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church
  • Assist the Principal and Deputy Principal in developing a school environment which is supportive of learning and high achievement for all
  • Collaboratively plan, monitor and review the effectiveness of learning across the school and contribute to school self-evaluation and the development of improvement plans
  • In conjunction with the Leadership Team actively promote ongoing staff development through mentoring, coaching and feedback
  • Ensure teachers are aware of and actively support, a high standard of professionalism through the use of the AITSL Standards
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with all members of the school, parish and wider community 
  • Promote partnerships that engage families and local and global communities to support, extend and challenge learning
  • Respect and foster the role of parents in their child’s education and in the school community
  • In conjunction with the Learning and Teaching Team, manage and oversee the organisation of support staff
  • Participate in or lead selection and recruitment processes for relief, temporary and ongoing teaching positions 
  • Uphold professional integrity at all times (e.g. discretion, confidentiality, loyalty and trust)
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive team culture
  • Participate in extracurricular activities relating to the life of the school
  • Contribute to a healthy and safe work environment for yourself and others and comply with all safe work policies and procedures
  • Be familiar and comply with the school’s child-safe policy, standards and code of conduct, and any other policies and procedures relating to child safety
