ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking passionate English Teachers who are committed to inspiring a love of literature, language, and critical thinking in students from Years 7–12.

At Sacred Heart College, the role of the Classroom Teacher is dynamic, future-focused, and grounded in a deep understanding of how young people learn best. As an English Teacher, you will:

  • Design rich, inclusive and engaging learning experiences that build students’ skills in reading, writing, speaking and analysis.
  • Use contemporary pedagogies including Universal Design for Learning, explicit instruction, and differentiated approaches, to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Foster classroom environments where curiosity, creativity and collaboration thrive, and where students are supported to take intellectual risks.
  • Integrate digital tools and learning technologies to enhance delivery and bring English concepts to life.
  • Use data and evidence-informed practice to refine your teaching, monitor progress and maximise student growth.
  • Build positive, caring and respectful relationships as part of your commitment to the wellbeing and holistic development of every student.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, team planning, assessment design and the ongoing strengthening of the English learning area.

ABOUT YOU

Our Classroom Teachers grow and develop student learning by enhancing their own professional and personal development in the three teaching domains of Professional Knowledge, Professional Practice and Professional Engagement (aitsl.edu.au). 

Self-directed and capable, you are passionate about learning and can competently collaborate and build partnerships with others to ensure successful delivery of dynamic programs for our students. You possess a restless need to explore and learn, seeking out innovative practices and new experiences, and actively encourage the same of others. 

Candidates must hold VIT Registration and will be classified in accordance with Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022. 

Accreditation to teach in a Catholic School and/or accreditation to teach RE is also advantageous and should be highlighted in resume/cover letter if applicable
