Role Description/Criteria

A new opportunity has opened up for a Learning Support Officer to join the St Bernard's Parish Primary School team of educational support staff.  

The Learning Support Officer (LSO) works to support students identified with additional needs. All our LSO's work under the direction of the Learning Diversity Leader and in collaboration with classroom teachers.  The LSO's role is to provide support to enable the students equal access to the curriculum .  

The successful applicant must be available to work Monday to Wednesday 8.30am - 3.00pm (the days of the week can be negotiated).  Experience working with children with additional needs would be an advantage but not necessary.

The successful applicant will be required to begin working as soon as practicable.

The successful applicant will:

  •    possess a current WWCC and Police Check
  •    demonstrate some knowledge in how to support students in their learning
  •    demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team
  •    demonstrate a passion for learning and instill this in the students
  •    demonstrate the capacity to work with individual or small groups of students 
  •    have the capacity to enrich and enhance the development of our school culture
  •    have some experience in working with students with additional needs
  •    be flexible and open to working with students across all year levels. 

 

Special Requirements
Applicants must have a commitment to the ethos of Catholic education.
