Role Description/Criteria

We are seeking an experienced, passionate and rigorous Learning Support Assistant (LSA) who is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children. Previous experience supporting Foundation students and teachers is an advantage.

Working with the Student Engagement and Wellbeing Team and the Deputy Principal - Learning and Teaching, the LSA will collaborate with teachers, students, and families to ensure every learner - particularly those with additional needs - feels included, supported, and empowered to reach their potential.

At St Marianne Cope, LSAs play an integral role in supporting students’ learning, wellbeing, behaviour, and social development within a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework. Our approach is deeply aligned with the MACS Vision for Engagement, fostering a learning community where every child is known, valued, and actively engaged.

  • Assist teachers in implementing suitable learning adjustments and behaviour support strategies aligned with the MTSS framework.
  • Build positive, trusting, and respectful relationships with students that foster belonging and engagement.

  • Contribute actively to our inclusive, compassionate, and faith-filled school environment.

About You

  • Display a positive disposition and a genuine willingness to support all children to thrive.
  • Respectful and inclusive in their interactions with students, families, colleagues, and the wider school community.
  • Skilled in implementing practical classroom and playground support strategies.
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to nurturing student wellbeing and belonging.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of a dynamic, growing school.
  • Strong communicator who can work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Committed to upholding and advancing the MACS Vision for Engagement and Vision for Instruction, supporting a culture of active learning, personalised support, and inclusive engagement for every student.
  • Experienced as a Learning Support Assistant, Teacher Assistant, or in a similar role.
  • Holding (or working towards) Certificate III/IV in Education Support or Disability Support qualifications.
