Role Description/Criteria

St Mary’s is a well-established school in the western suburbs of Melbourne. We are committed to the safety, wellbeing, inclusion and protection of all children in our care, therefore the successful applicant must demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to providing a safe environment for children. 

We are seeking a Learning Support Officer who can work Monday - Friday from 9am - 3:15pm (0.76 FTE). 

This is a short-term position commencing on Monday 13th July until December 3rd 2026.

The Learning Support Officer works within and is supported by the Learning Diversity Team. The LSO will assist classroom teachers in supporting students to achieve the goals outlined in their Personalised Learning Plan. 

As well as the expectations outlined in the position description (attached), the successful applicant will be able to: 

  • Create and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders 
  • Work with students of all abilities and needs, supporting them to achieve their best 
  • Follow directions as well as demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills 
  • Effectively communicate with students, parents and teachers 
  • Work across all areas of the curriculum, attending school excursions and events where necessary 

The successful applicant will have: 

  • Education Support certification
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Current National Criminal Record Check
  • Current Level 2 First Aid would be an advantage

The successful applicant will be paid a salary at ESO Level 2, as outlined in the VCEMEA (current agreement).
