Role Description/Criteria

Whitefriars College is a Catholic boys' school in the Carmelite tradition. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Librarian or Teacher Librarian for the position of Learning Leader - Library commencing, Term 4, 2026.

The Learning Leader – Library is a member of the College Learning Team shall be primarily responsible to the Principal through the Deputy Principal – Learning and Teaching.

This role will provide strategic leadership in the development, delivery and promotion of library services that enhance learning, teaching and student wellbeing, while fostering a culture of reading, inquiry and lifelong learning.

Working collaboratively with teachers, Learning Leaders and support staff, the Learning Leader – Library will lead a high-performing library team and oversee the planning, implementation and continuous improvement of library services, programs and resources aligned with the College's educational vision, Mission, Values and strategic priorities.

The role will provide leadership in the development of innovative reading, research and information literacy programs, the management and development of library collections, and the effective stewardship of library budgets and projects. The Learning Leader – Library will also champion contemporary learning technologies and digital resources, including emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, to support student engagement, achievement and success.

An agile and forward-thinking educational leader, the successful applicant will promote best practice in school librarianship and create a dynamic, inclusive and learning-centred environment that inspires curiosity, critical thinking and a love of reading across the College community.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Librarian or Teacher Librarian to make a meaningful contribution to student learning, literacy and wellbeing while working within a collaborative and highly regarded library team.

This is an ongoing full-time position.
