Role Description/Criteria

Join the dedicated team at St Columba’s College, where young women are empowered to think critically, act with courage, and make meaningful connections with the world around them.

We are seeking a highly organised and passionate College Archivist to care for, preserve and bring to life the history of our College.

The College Archives hold more than records — they hold the stories of generations of students, staff and families who have been part of St Columba’s. This is a unique opportunity to work with a fascinating collection of student records, photographs, documents, artefacts and stories that capture the people, places and moments that have shaped St Columba’s.

As the custodian of the College Archives, you will play an important role in ensuring our history is carefully preserved for future generations while finding meaningful ways to share it with our current community and alumnae.

This is an ongoing part time (0.2FTE) position from 2027.

You will:

  • Care for and organise our collection, ensuring archival records, student files, documents and artefacts are accurately catalogued, preserved and accessible.
  • Protect our history and records, maintaining appropriate storage, confidentiality, security and records management practices.
  • Bring our history to life through the Heart of Columba Heritage Centre, displays, exhibitions, research and heritage initiatives.
  • Connect with our community and alumnae, capturing stories, responding to historical enquiries and supporting the ongoing development of the College Archives.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Relevant experience or qualifications in archives, records management, history, heritage, library/information management or a related field.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a meticulous eye for detail, particularly when working with historical, student and confidential records.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and confidently follow established policies and records management requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, together with a genuine interest in the history, heritage and stories of St Columba’s College.

Why Join Us:

  • Be part of a welcoming, values-driven school where staff feel supported and connected
  • Access development opportunities, and the chance to build your career
  • Join a team that values collaboration, integrity, and care for the school community
  • Dedicated Staff Wellbeing Plan that honours our community and supports our staff
