Channel 10 weatherman Mike Larkin with students from St Mary Magdalene's School, Chadstone.22 February 2016

At the welcome barbeque for students and families at St Mary Magdalen’s School in Chadstone on 15 February, the school played host to Channel Ten’s Eyewitness News weatherman Mike Larkin, gaining a spot on ‘Mike’s Schools’ segment.

The students got to participate in making television happen and were proud to entertain with a Happy New Year song in Mandarin.

Grade 3 student, Mayumi Nissanka, reports on the choir’s performance:

The choir performance was on Monday 15th of February. We performed a song called Gung Hei Fat Choy. It means ‘we wish you a happy and prosperous Chinese New Year’ in Chinese.

The choir was on Channel Ten news and the reporter was Mike Larkin. The choir performed beautifully while Mike Larkin was reporting the weather.

The choir practiced for three weeks to make the singing beautiful. Mrs O’Dwyer and Miss Su did their best job to teach us the song. The choir enthusiastically got ready to perform the final performance. It was an outstanding job.

Good job everyone who is in the choir and others who sang along!
