Two students from St Francis of Assisi Primary School, Tarneit were finalists in the Centre for Multicultural Youth’s ‘MY Education Awards’ last month. Presented by James Merlino, deputy premier and Minister for Education, the awards recognise outstanding contributions made by organisations, schools, students and out-of-school-hours learning support programs.

Judith Basioni and Emmanuel Dau from St Francis of Assisi were both shortlisted for the Outstanding Student (primary) award, with Judith taking out the prize. Judith was honoured for encouraging her peers and helping to create a warm, welcoming and harmonious environment for all students. Judith and Emmanuel have participated in the Refugee Education Support Program (RESP) through Edmund Rice Services who facilitate the out-of-school-hours learning club.
