Anzac Day, The 200th anniversary of Catholic education in Australia and National Reconciliation Week.19 April 2021

Welcome to the beginning of Term 2. With fewer restrictions than in 2020, many events that were cancelled or modified last year are back and bigger than ever, as well as some significant new moments to add to the calendar.

The 200th anniversary of Catholic education in Australia is celebrated in May with a national Mass taking place in each diocese around the country. Coinciding with the Solemnity of Our Lady, Help of Christians, the Mass is another way schools can celebrate their unique place in Australia’s educational landscape.

Also in May is National Sorry Day, followed by National Reconciliation Week. With the theme ‘More than a word: reconciliation takes action’, 2021 marks 20 years of Reconciliation Australia and almost three decades of Australia’s formal reconciliation process.

‘Our Family, Our Story, Our Future’ is the theme for CatholicCare’s Family Week. The week is a time to come together to celebrate the power of family relationships in all their diversities, and the importance they play in our lives and community.
