Opening of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Werribee.4 February 2021

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Werribee, has opened this week to serve the needs of Catholic families in Melbourne’s rapidly growing south-western suburbs.

The school, situated as part of a new housing estate, has been designed as a place that will give the best opportunities for the needs of the students now and in the years to come. ‘The design of our school allows us to be flexible and agile, and this helps us all to listen and understand’, said the school’s foundation principal Shelley Ryan. With a mix of classrooms, shared learning spaces, specialist areas and landscaped exteriors, the school is now ready to go for families looking for a Catholic education.

With a nod to its place in the community, the school’s logo is circular and strategically open – reflecting the inclusive and welcoming nature of the school as a place of gathering and belonging. Interior decorations pay tribute to St Mary of the Cross MacKillop as a valuable role model for the students beginning their learning journey at the school.

Stage one of the school’s construction is now complete with additional stages to be completed in coming years. An official opening and blessing of the school will take place in Term 2.
