Commissioning of the MACS Board.13 July 2021

The inaugural board members of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) were officially commissioned at a Mass and dinner last week.

MACS began its governance responsibilities for parish and diocesan schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne on 1 January 2021 when 290 schools transferred to MACS. At the commissioning Mass at St John the Evangelist Church, East Melbourne, Archbishop Peter A Comensoli reminded us of the privilege and responsibility to lead and uphold the rich tradition of Catholic education in Melbourne, and sought our commitment to Catholic schooling as a service in the human formation of children and young people.

Although current restrictions had an impact on the number of people able to be present at the Mass, student artwork and imagery were projected on buildings around the Catholic Leadership Centre.

The inaugural MACS board members are:

  • Gerard Dalbosco (Chair)
  • Róisín Annesley QC
  • Professor Greg Craven AO GCSG
  • Frank FitzGerald
  • Fr Michael Gallacher
  • Carolyn Ireland
  • Geraldine Leslie
  • John McLindon
  • Lucinda Nolan APM
  • Dr Margaret O’Donnell
  • Tim O’Leary.
