Their Olympic campaign may be over, but the cheering continues for soccer captain Thomas Deng.

Thomas, a former student of Catholic Regional College, St Albans, and Catholic Regional College, Sydenham, was on the pitch in Tokyo representing Australia during the Olympic Games. It’s been a dream come true for Thomas, whose journey has taken him from being a South Sudanese refugee born in Kenya to an Olympic athlete.

‘We are very proud of Thomas and thrilled that he has the opportunity to pursue his soccer dream’, said Catholic Regional College, St Albans, principal Christina Utri. ‘He is a terrific young man, a wonderful role model, an inspiration to all who meet him, always humble and unassuming, and a natural leader who is doing great things on and off the pitch.’
