7 May 2021

Earth Day 2021‘Restore Our Earth’ was the theme for this year’s Earth Day.

Held in April each year, Earth Day is a chance for school communities to look at ways of reducing their impact on the planet. Students at St Margaret Mary’s School, Spotswood, celebrated Earth Day by continuing their journey towards sustainability and participating in a variety of investigations, provoking students’ curiosity and inciting their thirst for knowledge about the environment. Students engaged in their Term 2 Faith Life unit of work about sustainability, as well as a number of other activities, such as creating a collage table using only recyclable items.

Earth Day is an annual event that raises awareness and demonstrates support for environmental protection. Schools will also have a chance to further explore these themes during Laudato Si’ Week, 16 to 25 May, marking the anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical on care for our common home.
