It was a dream come true when a Year 10 student at Star of the Sea College, Brighton, was named the winner of the triple j Unearthed High competition for 2022.

A performance at a school assembly turned into a major musical announcement when triple j presenters declared Chelsea Jacotine (performing as JACOTÉNE) the winner of the national competition with her debut upload, ‘I need therapy’. As part of her prize, JACOTÉNE will move her music career forward with a professional recording of a chosen single, as well as music industry advice and connections.

triple j’s Unearthed High competition has been running for 14 years, and has helped the careers of previous winners and finalists including The Kid Laroi, Montaigne and Gretta Ray.
