3 June 2022

Catholic schools around the Archdiocese of Melbourne have been reflecting on their role as active participants in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander reconciliation during National Reconciliation Week.

This year’s theme has encouraged all Australians to ‘be brave’ and ‘make change’ for reconciliation. Preceded by National Sorry Day, National Reconciliation Week begins each year on 27 May, the anniversary of the 1967 referendum, and ends on 3 June, the anniversary of the High Court’s Mabo decision which paved the way for native title. Catholic schools have demonstrated their commitment to ongoing reconciliation through liturgy, classroom activities, sport and excursions.
