It was a celebration of all things cold and wintery as St Roch’s School, Glen Iris, showcased student art at a community celebration.

‘A walk in a winter wonderland’ was the theme of the school’s 2022 Art Show, with students from every year level contributing drawings, paintings, sculptures and mixed media. ‘It’s an amazing team effort tonight and everyone has come together with excitement to make this a night to remember’, said Principal Angie Mastoras. With the school’s Art teacher Anne Pullen and student Art leaders Scarlett, Wilson and Maya in attendance, the Art Show was officially opened with eager parents lining up to take it all in.

‘With over two terms of preparation, we have used beautiful paints, markers and pencils as well as other media to create some amazing artwork’, said the school’s Art leaders. ‘Mrs Pullen has taught us about art elements such as space, shape, texture and line. We have been inspired by famous artists.’

‘Lots of art can be produced with a winter theme, and it builds on the idea that we’re coming out of a winter sleep and celebrating student art together’, said Anne. ‘I’ve had the pleasure of teaching your children Art this semester, and you will go in tonight and see completed work, whereas I get the pleasure of seeing it from the start to the finish. Art is a process and your children have been wonderful going through that process.’
