Stephanie Murnane and Bridget Last, Prep teachers at St Patrick’s School, Mentone, are teaching at the school they originally began at as students.

Both of them recently spoke with us to share their insights into teaching, as well as their hopes for their students. ‘The best thing about my students is they’re so excited to learn’, said Stephanie. ‘Coming in with their smiles is the most important thing I love to see each morning. Spreading kindness: that’s my goal.’

Bridget has a long history with Catholic education, through her primary schooling at St Patrick’s, secondary years at Kilbreda College, Mentone, and tertiary study at Australian Catholic University. ‘I felt that natural pull to teach in a Catholic school’, said Bridget. ‘It’s second nature to me; the values that we teach are really important, especially with the things children are faced with in the modern age.’
