The students from Mother of God School, Ardeer, stood with their community to support the people of Ukraine.

Sunshine’s Ukrainian Association invited the community to tie pieces of blue and yellow string, yarn and ribbon to the fence outside the Ukrainian Hall in Ardeer. The students from Mother of God School walked from the school to the hall in year-level groups to show their support.

For principal Assunta Iacovino, the action was a way the school could help students to understand the human impact of the conflict. ‘We wanted to be able to do something in an environment where there’s not a lot we can do, but we can pray, and we can raise some money and we can raise awareness.’
