Student artwork from St Thomas More’s School, Mt Eliza7 November 2022

Two years in the making, the community at St Thomas More’s School, Mt Eliza, were finally able to enjoy the spectacular artworks on display at their 2022 Creative Minds Art Show.

The exhibition included amazing artworks by children of all ages from Prep to Year 6. In total, over 1000 works were on display and included paintings, charcoal drawings, collages, ceramics, digital installations and photography.

The school’s very talented Visual Arts teacher, Denise Ferguson, was the creative mind behind the show, working tirelessly with staff and students to bring it all together. While the many and varied artworks on display were created throughout the year in art classes and in the normal classroom program, there was a particular focus in Term 3 where the children’s inquiry learning was centred on the big ideas of ‘Creativity and Imagination’. During this unit, students explored a variety of mediums to express their ideas, tell a story and show their creative flare.

The art show was one of a number of special community events run by St Thomas More’s School this year, designed to both showcase students’ work and bring the school community back together.
