Construction of the second stage of St Lawrence of Brindisi Catholic Primary School, Weir Views17 October 2022

Construction of the second stage of St Lawrence of Brindisi Catholic Primary School, Weir Views, is well underway with the school’s population set to boom.

The Victorian Government’s representative for the seat of Melton, Steve McGhie, and Mayor of Melton City Council, Cr Goran Kesic, visited to see the work currently underway to dramatically increase the size of the school, which opened at the beginning of this year. They were joined by Parish Priest Fr Fabian Smith and principal of the neighbouring St Anthony’s School, Melton South, Damien Schuster.

The stage 2 construction comprises nine new general learning areas, basketball courts, extension to the carparks and general improvements to accommodate the rapidly growing community. ‘It’s reflective of the work we’ve done to build our community’, said Principal Bill Hill. ‘It provides a new challenge, and marks the progress and development of our school in providing a service to our local community.’

Following a liturgy and blessing, there was a tour of the construction site to see the work being done to have the new spaces ready for the beginning of the 2023 school year. ‘I know that the parents and the school community have been heavily involved’, said Mr McGhie, ‘and I congratulate Bill Hill and the school community on developing a magnificent school for our local kids’.
