Mixed netball team from St Thomas the Apostle School, Blackburn12 September 2022

The mixed netball team from St Thomas the Apostle School, Blackburn, is one of Victoria’s top netball teams after making last week’s state final.

The school has a proud record of boys/mixed netball achievements, having been Victorian champions in 2018 and 2019, and runners-up in 2016 and 2017. In this year’s final, the team was narrowly defeated 16 to 17 by St Mary’s School, Echuca, with the winning goal scored in the final 10 seconds of a thrilling match.

‘The two-year gap due to COVID-19 was a great incentive for all teams playing this year’, said Angela Lacey, Principal of St Thomas the Apostle School. ‘We are incredibly proud of our team and to be runner-up across the entire state is a phenomenal effort. I’m so thankful for Monique Curtis, one of our 5/6 teachers and their coach, for her efforts and success with our teams over a number of years.’
