Melbourne’s newest Catholic school, Mary Queen of Heaven Primary School, Greenvale, has been officially opened and blessed in a special event for the school community.

Principal Renae Gentile was joined by Member for Greenvale Iwan Walters, Parish Priest Fr Dishan Candappa and representatives from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) for the event to mark completion of the first stage of the school’s construction. This first stage comprises nine learning areas, specialist areas, administration facilities and outdoor activity areas. Further stages with additional facilities will be added as the school expands to support its growing community.

Renae thanked all involved in the construction of the school, as well as the first staff members who have worked to establish the school’s culture. ‘You have all gone above and beyond in ensuring that our children received the very best in the opening of our new school. You have created a place of welcome, warmth, inclusion and for that I am immensely proud.’

Renae saved her final thanks for the young people who make up the first group of learners at Mary Queen of Heaven Primary School. ‘Thank you for your curiosity, your imaginations, your high-fives at the front gate in the morning and your energetic waves in the afternoon. This is your school and great things will happen here because of you.’
