Students from Kilbreda College, Mentone, were in the presence of LEGO greatness at a full-day robotics workshop.

The Year 7 and 8 students worked in teams at a workshop with Ryan Evans, recently seen on Channel 9’s LEGO Masters and LEGO Masters: Grand Masters. Ryan worked with the students, challenging them to ‘think outside the LEGO square’ and design some truly inspiring creations.

‘For some, LEGO can be seen as little more than a toy, but the possibilities to construct and engineer complex structures using those humble plastic bricks and some basic robotics software make it the perfect tool to extend learning’, said Adrienne Donoghue, Learning Leader (Digital Technologies) at the college. ‘Ryan was great to work with, and he challenged and inspired our students. We are already planning the next session!’

Ryan also gave generously of his time to meet with students to answer any LEGO queries they had. Fans of the show will remember Ryan from Season 3, where he finished third alongside partner Gabby, holding the record for the most hours building on the show globally.
