Construction has officially commenced on Melbourne’s newest Catholic primary school.

Located in a new community at Wollert, Carlo Acutis Catholic Primary School will open at the beginning of the 2025 school year. The school has been named in honour of Carlo Acutis, a teenager known for building a website to catalogue eucharistic miracles. Carlo, who died aged 15, was beatified by Pope Frances in 2020.

‘Carlo’s unwavering faith and commitment to Catholic values, as well as his dedication to others, are attributes we aspire to instil in all of our students’, said the school’s foundation principal, Damian Howard. Damian was joined by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) Executive Director, Dr Edward Simons, and Member for Thomastown, Bronwyn Halfpenny MP, along with the school’s first student enrolment, Angel, to break ground on the school site.

The school is the fourth Catholic primary school in the St Peter’s Parish alongside St Peter’s School, Epping, St Mary of the Cross MacKillop Catholic Parish Primary School, Epping North, and Glowrey Catholic Primary School, Wollert.
