24 November 2020

After almost 150 years of educating young men and women at Christian Brothers’ College, St Kilda East, and Presentation College, Windsor, in 2021 the two schools will become St Mary’s College, a Catholic co-educational school to be operated by Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA).

‘This is a forward-thinking and exciting development for families in St Kilda and inner-city Melbourne, and for Catholic education in the Archdiocese’, Catholic Education Melbourne Executive Director Jim Miles said.

‘Both these schools have long and rich histories and, now as one, will continue to deliver a first- class Catholic secondary education.

‘Importantly, St Mary’s College now provides opportunities for students of Presentation College to continue their journey with Catholic education, after it was announced last year that the college would close.

‘St Mary’s College will also provide a seamless P–12 schooling pathway for students of St Mary’s and other Catholic primary schools in the area.

‘Christian Brothers’ College and Presentation College have worked closely together for many years and now, drawing on the facilities of both existing campuses, will create a wonderful co-educational learning environment.

‘On behalf of the wider Catholic education community, I congratulate all involved in this outstanding project and offer best wishes to foundation principal Terry Blizzard and EREA, as they move forward educating in the traditions of Edmund Rice and Nano Nagle, founder of the Presentation Sisters’, Mr Miles said.
