2 June 2021

Families urged to keep in close contact with schools as lockdown extended in greater Melbourne.

Catholic Education Commission of Victoria Ltd (CECV) Executive Director Jim Miles says:

The Catholic sector welcomes today’s announcement that all regional Victorian students, and Years 11 and 12 and students studying a Unit 3/4 VCE subject in metropolitan Melbourne, can return to onsite learning from this Friday (4 June 2021).

Students in Prep to Year 10 in the greater Melbourne area will continue with remote and flexible learning for an additional week.

Wellbeing and connectivity will be a key focus for Catholic schools as remote learning continues for these students.

I urge parents to keep in close contact with their schools, and seek support from teachers and professional services if they or their children are feeling stressed or overwhelmed.

Melbourne Catholic schools will also continue to focus on learning continuity over these coming days. This will include remote learning programs and/or the provision of learning materials.

These schools will continue to provide onsite supervision for children of essential workers and for vulnerable children.

It is vital we all play our part in minimising the risk of this outbreak spreading further.
