8 August 2022

De La Salle College has today announced it will soon be acquired by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), securing a strong future for the College’s growing community.

The College Board has been working together with its trustees, the De La Salle Brothers, to ensure the College can continue to build on its proud 110-year history of academic excellence. Together, they are pleased this can occur under MACS.

As Australia’s largest non-government education body, MACS was established by Archbishop Peter A Comensoli to govern and operate around 300 of Melbourne’s Catholic schools. As a result, MACS brings considerable expertise and is the natural choice for the College as the Brothers transition from their ownership role.

The acquisition represents business as usual for operations at the College. There will be no changes to staff, leadership, educational approach or Lasallian charism that defines the school. The College Board will take on a new and ongoing advisory role and will be active in ensuring a smooth and minimal transition to the MACS network.

This announcement marks an exciting step forward for the College as it continues to thrive, prosper and make a significant contribution to the community in the many years ahead.
