4 November 2022

With ongoing growth in enrolments at its Greenvale Lakes campus, Kolbe Catholic College has announced it will open an additional Years 7−12 campus in Mickleham in the Catholic parish of Craigieburn from 2026 (subject to approval from the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority).

The new campus will be located on an eight-hectare site within ‘The Woods’ residential estate, Donnybrook Road, Merrifield West.

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) Acting Executive Director Dr Edward Simons said the announcement was an exciting one for both the local community and Kolbe Catholic College.

‘With Kolbe Catholic College, Greenvale Lakes, expected to reach capacity in the near future, this new campus will provide additional opportunities for a Catholic secondary education for families in the parish of Craigieburn, where there are five Catholic primary schools’, he said.

‘Kolbe Catholic College has established itself as a high-achieving, authentically Catholic school, under the leadership of Principal Nick Scully and his team.

‘This new campus will extend and build on this legacy, offering a high-quality, affordable, faith-based educational option for more families in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

‘We are pleased to be able to deliver what will be “state of the art” education infrastructure for the local community, and we are grateful for the recent financial commitments of support made by both the Andrews Labor Government and Opposition’, Dr Simons said.

Mr Scully said the project team would work closely with families, the parish and local communities to ensure the hopes and aspirations of the community are recognised and incorporated into the design and function of the new campus.

‘Through the delivery of outstanding facilities, we will provide students at the new campus with every opportunity to make the most of what life has to offer, to strive to be their very best and be inspired to serve others, in keeping with our college’s vision’, he said.

Kolbe Catholic College is named after St Maximilian Kolbe who died at the Auschwitz concentration camp in 1941, having offered his life in substitution for the life of a fellow prisoner who had been condemned to death.

The college motto – Faith, Courage, Compassion – encompasses the legacy of St Maximilian Kolbe and a vision to provide students with every opportunity to make the most of what life has to offer, to strive to be their very best and be inspired to serve others.
