History:

St Bridget’s is an established Prep–Year 6 Catholic school and has been operating since 1959. The school is located on a site in Sweyn Street, Greythorn next to St Bridget’s Church. St Bridget’s School was built in 1959 with the Parish of St Bridget formed in 1961. The new church was built in 1980.

The first Principal was a lay Principal, while later the Daughters of Charity took over running the school until 1973. The school is now staffed by lay teachers.

St Bridget’s is situated on the edge of the City of Boroondara. The neighbourhood is residential and the school is set in a lovely quiet pocket in Greythorn. With our close proximity to private schools and easy access to the city along the Eastern freeway, the school attracts enrolments from people outside the immediate area, as well as interstate and overseas.

Our school logo which has the reed cross of St Bridget of Ireland, is surrounded by seven circles which represent the seven years of primary schooling. Our Vision Statement includes our motto – ‘To be Strong and Courageous’.

Description:

At St Bridget’s we are strong and courageous. We believe that individuals must stand up for the values expressed in the Gospels - freedom, love, justice, integrity and forgiveness, in spite of fear, failure and retribution.

St Bridget’s Catholic school is a community in which faith, culture, doctrine and life are brought into harmony. St Bridget’s is a Christian environment of caring concern, where love and a sense of belonging is fostered for every individual.
