Sacred Heart School, FITZROY is an integral part of the faith community of Fitzroy and is the parish primary school. We are currently seeking a full-time Teacher for a Year 3/4 classroom (4 days per week) and Art Teacher (1 day per week) for 4 week contract to commence on Monday 30 June 2025 and conclude on Friday 8 August 2025.
Candidates must have an ability to plan, work and learn in a team environment. They must also have excellent classroom management skills and have a commitment to the ethos of Catholic Education and contemporary pedagogy.
Job description:
At Sacred Heart School it is expected that class teachers will:
· Share in the ministry of the Church in teaching and upholding the Catholic tradition
· Promote and develop Catholic faith, attitudes and values in children through example and instruction
· Demonstrate qualities of faith leadership in the school community
· Update their knowledge of contemporary research into teaching and learning to support their own practice
· Draw on their knowledge of teaching practices to engage students in effective learning
· Gather and use information about the learning strengths and weaknesses of their students to support effective learning programs
· Broaden their understanding of the range of social, cultural and religious backgrounds of students and work to ensure that all students are treated equitably
· Communicate with students’ families to support learning and productive school/family partnerships and/or support others in the profession to do so.
Skills/Experience required:
• Bachelor of Education or relevant tertiary qualification.
• A strong commitment to Catholic education.
• An ability to develop and maintain professional and caring relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• An ability to create an engaging, educational, and challenging learning environment that caters for the needs of all students.
• An eagerness to learn.
• An enthusiasm to implement a differentiated curriculum and use modern technology to support student learning.
Special Requirements:
• Sacred Heart School, FITZROY promotes the safety, well-being, and inclusion of all children; therefore, the successful applicant must demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to providing a safe environment for children.
• The successful applicant will hold the Victorian Institute of Teaching registration.
• Accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school is preferred.
