Role Description/Criteria

The contract position is a 5 days a week position with working hours of 8:30 - 3:15 for the remainder of the 2025 school year. This may lead to an ongoing position in the future. This is subjuct to ongoing NCCD funding.

Applicants need to have a keen interest in supporting and working with special needs students and a particular love of bridging the gap of these students.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate their ability to work as a collborative team member with our Learning Diveristy Leader, Literacy/Intervention Leader, classroom teachers, specialist teachers and other LSOs in our school community.

Applicants for this position should demonstrate:

  • a commitment to Catholic Education and the wellbeing and safety of students
  • appreciation and understanding of the Catholic ethos
  • uphold the Catholic ethos and values of St Francis Xavier's School in all interactions
  • an ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional learning team
  • an ability to form positive relationships and maintain open and effective communication with students, parents and colleagues
  • a commitment to the Child Safety policy of the school

The successful applicant will:

  • take directions from and report to the Learning Diveristy Leader, ILiteracy/Intervention Leader, classroom teachers to implement a students Personal Learning Plan
  • liaise regularly with teaching staff with regard to student needs
  • assist students either individually or in a group
  • be flexible in dealing with the changing, challenging and diverse needs of individual special needs students 
  • have a current Working with Children Check
  • have a Certificate IV in Education Support but not essential
