Role Description/Criteria

We are excited to invite a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to apply for the position of Food Technology Assistant, at our St Clare Campus (Greenvale). This role offers a wonderful opportunity to contribute to a thriving learning environment, support students in practical food classes, and help inspire young people to strive for their best and to serve others.

About the role

The position is a service focused position supporting the smooth operations and delivery of curriculum in the areas of Food Studies.  Key responsibilities focus on stock control; safety; health and hygiene; teacher support; and hospitality.

This is a part time 0.4 FTE, ongoing position

The working days follow a fortnightly cycle: Monday and Wednesday in the first week, and Tuesday and Wednesday in the second week.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this position you should demonstrate the following:

  • Good organisational skills and familiarity with food handling regulations and other appropriate procedures. 
  • Ability to prioritise a range of tasks and manage time effectively
  • Capacity to communicate effectively with members of the school community including students, teachers and parents and the capacity to provide support and/or attendant care to students where necessary. 
  • Proven capacity to work effectively in the face of changing priorities and deadlines
  • Capacity to work cooperatively with a range of people including teachers, education support, students and parents, including the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated qualifications and skills to support the delivery of Food Technology subjects to a high standard. 
  • A commitment to OH&S requirements, commitment to meeting quality standards, and the willingness to update their skills and knowledge on a regular basis.
  • Compliance and prioritisation of Child Safety Standards
  • A current National Criminal Records Check
  • A current Working with Children Check Card
