About the Role

St Catherine of Siena School is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Learning Support Officer (LSO) to join our committed team.

The successful applicant will support students with additional learning and behavioural needs, working under the direction of the Learning Diversity Leader and in collaboration with classroom teachers. The role involves contributing to an inclusive and supportive educational environment where all students are empowered to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and small-group support to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Assist teachers in implementing personalised learning adjustments and behaviour support strategies.
  • Establish positive, respectful, and trusting relationships with students to enhance engagement and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and specialists to support the holistic development of each learner.
  • Contribute actively to the inclusive and faith-based ethos of St Margaret’s Primary School.

Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will:

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
  • Exhibit a passion for supporting children with additional learning or behavioural needs.
  • Display patience, empathy, and professionalism in interactions with students, staff, and families.
  • Possess strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Hold relevant qualifications in Education Support (Certificate III or IV) or Disability Support (or be working towards completion).
  • Have experience in a Learning Support or Teacher Assistant role within a primary school setting (preferred).

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) – valid as of 27 January 2026.
  • Current National Police Check – valid as of 27 January 2026.
  • Commitment to child safety and to the implementation of the school’s Child Safe Standards and policies.
  • Legal right to work in Australia (visa sponsorship not available).
