Role Description/Criteria

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic educator for a specialist Performing Arts teacher role at St Joseph the Worker working 0.58 FTE each week (days of work to be confirmed)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging music and performing arts lessons aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 Dance, Drama and Music.
  • Foster a love for music, drama, and movement in a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Organize and lead school performances, concerts, and special events.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate arts into broader learning experiences.
  • Encourage student creativity, confidence, and teamwork through performance-based activities.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified teacher with experience or specialization in music and/or performing arts.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to play instruments and lead vocal and movement activities.
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and supporting their artistic development.
  • A commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

The successful applicant must have:

  • A sound knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 in Performing Arts
  • An understanding of and willingness to embrace the MACS 2030 Strategy, including the MACS Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement
  • A passion for teaching and building strong relationships with students
  • The ability to lead the learning in the classroom including principals of explicit instruction e.g. retrieval and review, checking for understanding and feedback etc.
  • An ability to foster a classroom culture where mistakes are seen as valuable learning opportunities
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to working with our school community to improve student learning outcomes
  • The ability to plan and implement engaging learning experiences for all students
  • Proficiency in the use of technology to enhance student learning
  • Current VIT registration
  • A willingness to comply with the school’s Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct
  • Experience and passion teaching Performing Arts to students in a primary school setting
  • Evidence of further learning to support them in their role
