Role Description/Criteria

Catholic Regional College Sydenham was founded in 1982 as a Catholic senior school for students in the West of Melbourne. It is the largest of its kind in Victoria, specialising in VCE, VCE-VM and VET studies.

The school is a part of the Catholic Regional College Federation of schools encompassing 7-10 Colleges at St Albans, North Keilor and Caroline Springs. The founders of the school understood that in building a specialist senior campus, students would benefit from having specialist teachers and the widest range of subjects offered.

You will be working as part of a small team under the guidance of the Senior College Psychologist to provide comprehensive wellbeing support to the students at our Senior Secondary College (Years 11 and 12).

This is a fixed term role to cover parental leave.

Duties

  • Supporting students with their wellbeing needs through individual counselling and advocacy
  • Referring students and families to external agencies as appropriate
  • Implementing proactive wellbeing strategies through designing and running presentations and workshops for students and staff
  • Liaising with teachers, coordinators and College Leadership in relation to students of concern. This may involve attending support meetings and contributing to Personal Support Plans and Behaviour Management Plans
  • Providing consultation to parents seeking advice and preliminary support 
  • Conducting relevant diagnostic testing and assessment to support students' education needs and goals
  • Liaising with relevant external agencies as required (i.e: Child Protection Service, external medical and allied health professionals, police)
  • Collaborating with the Wellbeing Team on issues that support whole school wellbeing

Requirements
To be eligible to apply the successful applicant would require:

  • Current APHRA registration as a psychologist
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Passion, energy and enthusiasm for working with adolescents of diverse backgrounds
  • A commitment and understanding of the Catholic ethos 
  • Compliance with the CRC Sydenham Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct

Salary will be based on the CEMEA 2022. The level and subdivision of the successful candidate will be negotiated based on experience, qualifications and previous industry experience.
