Role Description/Criteria

St James the Apostle is an integral part of the faith community of Hoppers Crossing and is one of 4 parish Primary Schools. St James is governed under the authority of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Limited (MACS) ABN 18643442371. MACS is the employer of employees at St James.

We are seeking a Home Group Teacher who: 

  • demonstrates a commitment to the ethos of Catholic Education and to the safety and wellbeing of all students
  • has a passion for teaching and an understanding of learning in a contemporary environment is essential - Science of Learning 
  • has knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0.
  • is able to plan and deliver learning experiences that are differentiated to accommodate a range of abilities and learning styles
  • is able to effectively use data to inform the teaching and learning of students
  • is innovative and highly motivated
  • is able to assess and report for all learners using school systems
  • is able to prepare a year and term overviews for all home groups
  • is able to maintain ongoing professional documentation of learning, teaching and assessment on Google Drive
  • contributes to future planning and policy. 

Special Requirements

St James promotes the safety, well-being, and inclusion of all children; therefore, the successful applicant must demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to providing a safe environment for children.

  • Bachelor of Education or relevant tertiary qualification.
  • The successful applicant will hold the Victorian Institute of Teaching registration.
  • Accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school is preferred.
  • Contact details of at least two referees.

The successful candidate must hold or acquire and maintain Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration. Candidates must hold a valid visa and/or full Australian Working Rights and provide evidence of this.
