Role Description/Criteria

As a Learning Support Officer at St Thomas More, you would be required to:

Provide support to students with additional needs as directed by the classroom teacher

Work with individual or small groups of children to support learning in literacy and numeracy

Provide basic physical, social and emotional care for students

Monitor and provide support for children during play breaks

Keep records to assist the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) process

Adhere to all Child Safety legislation and St Thomas More Primary School Child Safety requirements.

Suitable applicants will:

Demonstrate an awareness of various learning disabilities and their impact on student learning

Have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills

Have experience working with children with challenging behaviours

Demonstrate an understanding of child safety and the appropriate obligations and behaviours when engaging with students

Have a Certificate III or IV qualification in Educational Support or be working towards a suitable qualification (including a teaching qualification)

Have a current Working With Children Check.
