Role Description/Criteria

St Clare's Primary School is seeking a visual arts teacher who is vibrant, dynamic and can inspire children to explore and enjoy a variety of learning areas as part of our specialist team. Commencement is for the 2026 school year. Experienced or graduate teachers are welcome to apply for this highly supported teaching position
The successful applicant will need:
- strong knowledge of visual arts
- ability to plan and implement engaging programs using knowledge of contemporary learning and teaching practices
- knowledge of, and demonstrated ability to, differentiate learning to meet the needs of students across a range of abilities
- awareness of the skills and strategies required when working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds
- passion for building strong partnerships and links between our families and school
- ability to work collaboratively with the specialist teacher team to support and contribute to the building of a professional learning culture
- willingness to be involved in all aspects of the school community
- evidence of ongoing personal and professional development
- strong commitment to Catholic education and Catholic identity
- accreditation to teach in a Catholic School (or a willingness to obtain future accreditation)
- knowledge of the AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
- adherence to St Clare's Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct and other policies relevant to Ministerial Order 1359
- current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching with an up to date Criminal Record check
Teachers at St Clare's have the opportunity to participate in and experience:
- Implementation of the MACS Flourishing Learners Vision For Instruction & Engagement
- Instructional Coaching - The school has a well developed instructional coaching approach where all teachers participate in instructional coaching sessions and are assigned a Coach to support individual professional development on evidence based practices in a safe and supportive environment
- Facilitated planning on a weekly basis (A full time teacher receives one full day of planning a week - Part time staff receive a sliding scale of this approach)
- Weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLC) supported by Curriculum Coaches
- Opportunities for Professional Development ,such as Little Learners Love Literacy (P-2), PhOrMeS (3-6), Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) and Assessment
- Staff wellbeing is at the core of our supportive staff culture at St Clare's
- The school has a strong vision and model for instruction which is enacted by the staff with enthusiasm and is well resourced and supported by leadership
- Instructional coaching includes classroom observation, modelling, feedback and team teaching opportunities
- Support the schools implementation of evidence based practices in teaching and learning. The school has a vision for implementation and the rollout is timely, supported and gradual. We are seeking further educators to enhance and lead this vision
- The school has well developed whole school behaviour management practices through its implementation of Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) across the school. This includes well defined and enacted school wide routines, expectations and acknowledgements
