Role Description/Criteria

St Kevin’s College

St Kevin’s College is a leading independent Catholic Boys' School, committed to standards of excellence in the formation of young people, educating boys from ELC (co-ed) to Year 12.

We strive with compassion and integrity for the development of the whole person, integrating spiritual development, academic success, cultural awareness and sporting participation. St Kevin’s has developed a strong academic tradition where each boy is encouraged to take responsibility for his own learning in an environment that values knowledge and scholarship.

The Opportunity

St Kevin’s College is seeking an innovative and future-focused Library Teacher / Teacher Librarian to join our vibrant learning community.

More than a traditional library role,, we are looking for an educator who sees the library as a dynamic centre for inquiry, creativity, research, reading culture, and digital fluency. This role will suit someone who is energised by shaping how students locate, evaluate, interpret and create knowledge in an increasingly complex information landscape.

Working across our Toorak and Richmond campuses, you will collaborate closely with teachers to embed information literacy, media literacy, research capability and critical thinking across the curriculum. You will play a key role in fostering a rich reading culture while guiding students in digital citizenship, ethical information use, and confident engagement with emerging technologies.

You will be supported by a collaborative and forward-thinking leadership team that values innovation, professional growth, and fresh perspectives.

Experience in digital learning, curriculum design, or research support will be highly regarded. Experience in a school library setting is welcomed, though not the only pathway into this role.

Formal Teacher Librarian qualifications are desirable; however, experienced educators with a demonstrated passion for information literacy, media literacy and inquiry learning are strongly encouraged to apply.

Whether you are an experienced Teacher Librarian or a classroom teacher seeking to transition into a contemporary library role, we warmly welcome your application.

About You

Reporting to the Head of Libraries, you are an enthusiastic and reflective educator who:

  • Demonstrates a strong passion for reading, inquiry learning, and information literacy

  • Enjoys partnering with teachers to co-design meaningful, inquiry-driven learning experiences
  • Guides students in critical thinking, research skills, media literacy and ethical use of information
  • Brings creativity, adaptability and a growth mindset to your practice
