Role Description/Criteria

The Position
Loreto Toorak is seeking an experienced and highly capable Laboratory Technician to support teachers and students through well-prepared, safe and engaging practical laboratory activities. This Term 3 only role is offered on a part-time basis, 0.6 FTE working Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Working under the direction of the Head of Faculty, Science, the Laboratory Technician contributes to the effective delivery of the curriculum by ensuring laboratory resources are readily available, safe and fit for purpose. The role requires a strong working knowledge of laboratory equipment and resources, enabling the Laboratory Technician to effectively support student learning and practical engagement aligned with syllabus requirements.
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced Laboratory Technician who has worked in a similar role ideally within a school environment. Demonstrated experience in the management of laboratory equipment, including the safe storage, handling and disposal of dangerous and hazardous substances in accordance with safety requirements will be essential. A sound understanding and appreciation of student learning strategies coupled with a collaborative and collegial approach to working with colleagues will be critical to success in the role. A relevant tertiary qualification will be highly regarded. A current WWCC (Employee) is essential.
