Role Description/Criteria

At St John's, we believe that children are at the centre of learning when given authentic and meaningful experiences. They flourish when their passions and interests are acknowledged and valued. We are seeking an organised and innovative classroom teacher who can contribute to a learning environment that is engaging, inspiring, and targeted at the children's point of need. The successful applicant must demonstrate a passion for learning and teaching, alongside a commitment to working collaboratively within a team.

Our community is deeply committed to the safety, wellbeing, and protection of all children in our care.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate:

  • A commitment to, and respect for, the Catholic identity of the school, including multi-faith perspectives.
  • A willingness to collaborate and actively contribute to a team-focused environment.
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the MACS 2030 Strategy, including the MACS Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement.
  • An openness to new learning, research, and evidence-based practices across all areas of the curriculum.
  • A commitment to providing adjustments that enable all children to experience success.
  • The ability to actively contribute to building a culture of wellbeing for all (e.g., the Berry Street Educational Model).
  • A passion for building strong relationships and connections with everyone in the community (children, parents, and colleagues).
  • A willingness to engage in dialogue regarding professional growth.

Special Requirements

The successful applicant must:

  • Hold current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration. (We strongly encourage graduate and early-career teachers to apply.)
  • Include the contact details of three referees, including current and previous principals.
  • Provide evidence of personal identity and professional qualifications.
  • Be accredited to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school, or be willing to undertake accreditation studies.
  • Have a strong knowledge of the Child Safe Standards and a firm commitment to child safety.
  • Be willing to comply with the MACS Child Safety Code of Conduct.
  • Be willing to promote the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of all children.
