St Joseph’s Elsternwick is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Music & Performing Arts Teacher (P–6) to join our dynamic learning community in Semester 2, 2026, with the possibility of ongoing in 2027. Additional hours would be available in Terms 2 and 3 (by negotiation) to direct our School Production in 2027. 

This position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire students across Prep to Year 6 through rich and engaging visual arts experiences that nurture imagination, skill, and self-expression.

The role is 0.66 FTE, working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (full days) and Friday 9.00am–11.00am (planning, may be completed offsite).

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Is passionate about Music and Performing Arts education.
  • Creates engaging and inclusive learning experiences that cater for the diverse needs of students.
  • Inspires confidence, creativity, and a love of performance in young learners.
  • Demonstrates excellence in curriculum planning and delivery in line with the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Values strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice.
  • Actively supports the Catholic ethos and values of our school.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
  • A sound understanding of effective teaching and learning practices within Music and Performing Arts.
  • Experience directing or coordinating student performances, concerts, productions, or liturgical celebrations would be highly regarded.
  • Commitment to child safety and wellbeing.
