THE POSITION

We are seeking a passionate House Leader (POL 3) to join our Student Engagement and Wellbeing team.

  • Commencement: An immediate commencement is preferred; however, we recognise that the right candidate may have existing commitments and are happy to discuss a commencement date that supports a smooth transition to Sacred Heart College. 
  • Base Appointment: Ongoing Classroom Teacher. 
  • Position of Leadership: Fixed-term House Leader appointment. The duration of the leadership appointment will be confirmed prior to offer. The successful applicant will be appointed to an ongoing teaching position. 
  • Time Allowance: 12 periods per week, plus a POL allowance of $9,629 p.a.

The House Leader plays a central role in the pastoral care, academic guidance, and holistic development of students within their House. Working closely with Mentor Group Teachers, the House Leader fosters connection, belonging, and house pride through student wellbeing initiatives, restorative practices, and intra/inter-house programs.

ABOUT YOU

In addition to being able to continue leading the Primary Purpose and Key responsibilities indicated in the position description, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate sound responses to the following selection criteria:

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in Education, with evidence of ongoing professional learning.
  • Accreditation to Teach RE or Lead in a Catholic School, working towards attainment or preparedness to commence working towards attainment.
  • Highly developed understanding of sustainable positive education practices.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to inspire and support others.
  • Forward-thinking and innovative approach to student wellbeing and engagement.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to positive education practices

Desirable

  • Experience managing projects and resources.
  • Understanding of Mercy traditions and a capacity to positively advance the mission and Mercy values of the College.
