An exciting opportunity exists for a Laboratory Technician to join our Science Learning Area. This role provides practical and technical support to Science staff, ensuring laboratories, equipment, materials and resources are prepared, maintained and ready to support engaging practical learning experiences.

 

This is a fixed term (with the possibility of an extension) full time position until the end of Term 3 2026. Part time will be considered.

 

As the Laboratory Technician, you will:

  • Prepare and set up equipment, materials and chemicals for practical Science lessons, providing practical support to Science staff and students.
  • Maintain laboratories, equipment and resources, including stock management, storage, cleaning and basic maintenance.
  • Support laboratory safety and compliance, including risk assessments, chemical handling, Safety Data Sheets and waste disposal.
  • Assist with the development and evaluation of practical experiments, identify equipment or facility issues, and contribute to an effective Science learning environment.

 

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant laboratory experience or qualifications in laboratory work, Science, education or a related field.
  • Practical knowledge of laboratory procedures, with a strong commitment to safety, compliance and established processes.
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail, initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently where required.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with staff and students.
