Parade College
Parade College is a member of the national body of Catholic schools known as Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA). The College is pleased to announce, our VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) program at Parade College became co-educational in 2025. The College welcomes full-time female student enrolments for the first time in our long history, into Year 11 in 2025. Starting in Term 1 2025, our VCE Vocational Major program, based at our Preston campus, has expanded our student offerings by introducing a new Tertiary Pathways Program. The Tertiary Pathways Program includes a second stream of our highly successful Sport Academy, along with a new Business Academy. Both academies provide a bespoke educational opportunity that allow students to gain direct entry into a number of undergraduate tertiary courses at La Trobe University upon completion of the two-year course.

The Position
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Psychologist or Counsellor professionals to join our Student Wellbeing Support Team.
We are a passionate College community dedicated to the College's mission of supporting and enabling excellent educational outcomes. The Student Wellbeing Support Team is responsible for supporting students with enhancing their wellbeing – personal, social, educational. This is realised through a continuum of counselling and wellbeing services designed to ensure student wellbeing and support addresses any barriers to learning, for example family and developmental issues. As such, the emphasis is on Primary Prevention, Early Intervention, Intervention, and Restoring Wellbeing.
The successful candidate will be approachable and available to students, developing and implementing programmes aimed at nurturing relationships and meeting the specific needs of students. Your experience working with students and your knowledge of trauma, mental health and social and emotional development compliments your innate ability to develop genuine rapport and authentically engage with young people.
Responsibilities
The position includes the following responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality counselling support to improve student wellbeing and learning outcomes.
- Deliver targeted wellbeing interventions for students with complex needs.
- Assist in coordinating student support services within a multidisciplinary team.
- Support teachers to develop and implement programs for students with additional needs.
- Provide expert advice on student wellbeing, mental health, and engagement.
- Collaborate with team members to manage and support complex student cases.
- Contribute to the professional learning and development of student support staff.
- Liaise with families, schools, community agencies, health services, and external professionals to coordinate student support.
This position is a part-time (FTE 0.8) ongoing position if the successful candidate is a qualified and experienced Psychologist. The College will also consider applications to separate the position into two (FTE0.4) positions (FTE 0.4 Social Worker/Counsellor position and a FTE 0.4 Psychologist position). The position is available for immediate commencement (or by negotiation).
About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following Skills and Attributes:
- Holds relevant qualifications in social work, psychology, or counselling. Applicants must hold appropriate tertiary qualifications relevant to the position. Psychologists must be currently registered with AHPRA. Counsellors must be registered with, or eligible for registration with, the ACA (or equivalent professional body). Social Workers must be eligible for membership with the AASW and comply with relevant professional standards.
- Demonstrated experience, skills and knowledge with working with students with trauma histories and/or are 'at risk' of being disenfranchised from school (desired).
- Experience in effective case management and facilitation (desired).
- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- An understanding of trauma, mental health and social and emotional development.
- Capacity to make sound professional judgements with some autonomy.
