Applications are sought for the position of Director of Learning Diversity - POL 4. This is a 3 year tenured Position of Leadership in conjunction with an ongoing teaching appointment.

Padua College provides a contemporary Catholic secondary co-education for young people within the regions of the Mornington Peninsula and Western Port Bay. Our College was founded by the Sisters of Mercy and is named after St Anthony of Padua. OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

The Director of Learning Diversity is at the forefront of implementing the College’s Learning and Teaching Framework, Padua’s Instructional Model, the MACS Vision for Instruction, and the College’s Educational Strategic Plan. The role reflects the MACS Vision for Leadership:

“When leaders are effective, they drive both instructional excellence and genuine engagement throughout their educational communities.” MACS Vision for Leadership, p. 15

The Learning Diversity Team at Padua College works to provide inclusive education and enhanced learning opportunities for all students. Inclusive education values diversity and celebrates difference. It removes barriers to learning and engagement so that every student can participate fully and achieve their potential, regardless of academic, cultural, physical, social, emotional, or behavioural differences.

The Director of Learning Diversity leads a coordinated multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) and promotes an inclusive educational environment across the College. The Director oversees the identification, planning, provision and monitoring of support and reasonable adjustments for students with disability or diverse learning needs. Leading a caring and dedicated team of Campus Learning Diversity Coordinators, Learning Support Officers and teachers, the Director connects quality classroom instruction with targeted and intensive support, using assessment and progress monitoring to respond to individual needs and foster each student’s learning, independence, and holistic development.

The Director of Learning Diversity ensures compliance with regulatory authorities. They will lead and work collaboratively with the Learning Diversity Team, creating a learning environment that is flexible and dynamic in catering to students with diverse learning needs. The Director of Learning Diversity will lead their team to work with teachers to develop the necessary strategies and skills within students to foster learning, independence, and confidence, to facilitate ongoing progress and to attain optimal educational outcomes.

The Director of Learning Diversity is a key member of the Learning and Teaching Team under the direction of the Vice Principal – Learning and Teaching and reports directly to the Vice Principal - Learning and Teaching.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

The major areas of responsibility of the Director of Learning Diversity include, but are not limited to:

  • collaborating with the Learning Diversity Team and the College Improvement Team to lead an inclusive education strategy, including a coordinated multi-tiered system of support (MTSS), that responds to the full range of student needs and meets regulatory requirements;
  • leading and supervising Campus Learning Diversity Coordinators to ensure consistent identification of students with disability or diverse learning needs, and the planning, provision and monitoring of support and reasonable adjustments, in partnership with students, families and teachers;
  • providing direct and indirect support and professional development to enable staff to connect quality classroom instruction with targeted and intensive support, and to make appropriate adjustments to the curriculum, instruction, and learning environment;
  • leading professional learning in inclusive education practices that connect each teacher to professional improvement within the AITSL Standards and Padua’s Learning and Teaching Framework and Padua’s Instructional Model;
  • using assessment and progress monitoring data to evaluate the impact of support and inform planning for student learning, engagement, and wellbeing;
  • managing and coordinating departmental processes and administration, and overseeing the collation and reporting of information required for accountability and compliance; and
  • performing other day-to-day duties and implementing decisions as requested by the Principal or the College Improvement Team. 

Teachers are supported by the Department Heads, Learning Leaders, the Assistant Heads of Campus (Learning and Pedagogy), Deputy Principals/Directors of Campus (Heads of Campus), and the Vice Principal (Learning and Teaching) across the College in the development, implementation, and teaching of the curriculum. 

They are also supported by the House Coordinators, Assistant Heads of Campus (Student Wellbeing and Growth), the Deputy Principals/Directors of Campus (Heads of Campus) and the Vice Principal – Students, in the pastoral care and discipline of students, as well as the smooth and effective management of classes.

SALARY REMUNERATION: According to the CEMEA 2022, $79,589.00 - $118,063.00 per annum, plus 12% superannuation. 

A Position of Leadership 4 is $13,018.00 per annum.
