Applications are sought for the position of Director of Educational Initiatives - POL 4. This is a 3 year tenured Position of Leadership in conjunction with an ongoing teaching appointment.

Padua College provides a contemporary Catholic secondary co-education for young people within the regions of the Mornington Peninsula and Western Port Bay. Our College was founded by the Sisters of Mercy and is named after St Anthony of Padua. OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

The Director of Educational Initiatives is at the forefront of implementing the College’s Learning and Teaching Framework, Padua’s Instructional Model, the MACS Vision for Instruction, and the College’s Educational Strategic Plan. The Director leads the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic educational initiatives that strengthen curriculum, pedagogy, professional practice, and student learning across the College.

The role reflects the MACS Vision for Leadership: “When leaders are effective, they drive both instructional excellence and genuine engagement throughout their educational communities.” — MACS Vision for Leadership, p. 15.

Working collaboratively with the College Executive Teams, College leaders and teaching staff, the Director of Educational Initiatives identifies College priorities, translates evidence and strategy into coherent action, and supports their consistent implementation across campuses. The role leads professional learning and builds teacher and leadership capacity through clear goals, coaching, feedback, collaborative inquiry, and the purposeful use of evidence.

The Director of Educational Initiatives provides leadership for identified College-wide projects and initiatives that respond to emerging educational priorities, opportunities, and areas of need. The focus of the role may evolve over time according to the needs of the College. Working collaboratively with the relevant members of the College Executive and other leaders, the Director leads designated initiatives from investigation and development through to implementation and evaluation, with a particular focus on improving student learning, engagement, and outcomes.

The Director of Educational Initiatives is a key member of the Learning and Teaching Executive, Literacy Team, and the College’s senior leadership structure. The position works closely with other senior College leaders, contributes to whole-of-College priorities and reports directly to the Vice Principal – Staff, Strategy and Development.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Director of Educational Initiatives’ major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • leading the investigation, design, implementation, and evaluation of strategic educational initiatives aligned with the College’s Mission, Learning and Teaching Framework, Padua’s Instructional Model, the MACS Vision for Instruction, and College Educational Strategic Plan;
  • leading curriculum, pedagogy, and program improvement, including initiatives that strengthen high-quality instructional practice, student engagement, learning, achievement, and future pathways;
  • using research, student learning evidence, stakeholder feedback, and implementation data to evaluate impact, guide decisions, and support continuous improvement;
  • leading whole-College professional learning and building the capacity of teachers and leaders to implement consistent, evidence-based curriculum, assessment, and instructional practices;
  • developing collaborative partnerships and coordinating people, resources, and technologies to support the effective and sustainable implementation of educational priorities;
  • leading annual review meetings, professional goal-setting and related review processes with teaching staff; and
  • performing other day-to-day duties and implementing decisions as requested by the Principal or the College Improvement Team.

Teachers are supported by the Department Heads, Learning Leaders, the Assistant Heads of Campus (Learning and Pedagogy), Deputy Principals/Directors of Campus (Heads of Campus), and the Vice Principal (Learning and Teaching) across the College in the development, implementation, and teaching of the curriculum. 

They are also supported by the House Coordinators, Assistant Heads of Campus (Student Wellbeing and Growth), the Deputy Principals/Directors of Campus (Heads of Campus) and the Vice Principal – Students, in the pastoral care and discipline of students, as well as the smooth and effective management of classes.

SALARY REMUNERATION: According to the CEMEA 2022, $79,589.00 - $118,063.00 per annum, plus 12% superannuation. 

A Position of Leadership 4 is $13,018.00 per annum.
